Turn Customer Data into Repeat Visits: Activity Reports and Follow-Up with Gespet

October 16, 2026  |  Pet Business

Your next booking could start with a message to someone who already knows you

Between calls, appointments and animals to care for, weeks can pass before you notice that a family has stopped coming. It is just as easy to miss the chance to ask how a boarding stay went or suggest the next session after a great service.

You need more than somewhere to store data. You need a tool that turns it into clear, useful information you can put to work.

You already know who visited, which services they used, when they came and how they have interacted with your business. Now you can use that information for follow-up campaigns. Review the reports on their own or take the next step and email the customers directly.

Under Marketing > Analysis & email marketing > Activity, you will find four valuable new reports to help you:

  • Look after your regular customers with Customers with activity.

  • Prevent customers from drifting away with Customers without activity and Customers with declining activity.

  • Follow up with customers who have returned after a break using Reactivated customers.

There are also seven follow-up reports, one for each business area.

Let Gespet do the groundwork

Want to know which customers have stopped visiting, who your most loyal customers are, which pets stayed at your hotel last month or who bought a particular product last week? Find all that information and more with ease.

Use it to understand your business, or go further: email customers to ask how they are getting on with a product, find out how their pet's stay went or reward them for their loyalty.

1. Customers with activity

See who visited your pet hotel, bought from your shop or came to your grooming salon during a specific period. It is a useful starting point for strengthening loyalty and creating new sales opportunities.

2. Customers without activity: give them a reason to come back

Find customers who have not used your services for a while or had no activity during a specific period. Reconnect with people who already know your business, or include contacts with no previous activity to send a special first-visit offer.

An example for a dog grooming salon:

Select customers who have gone longer than usual between appointments and send a friendly message: “We haven't seen you for a while! If it's time for your dog's next groom, get in touch and we'll find an appointment that works for you.”

You choose the timeframe: perhaps the past 15 days for grooming or six months for boarding. Grooming appointments tend to be more regular, while stays at a pet hotel are often occasional.

3. Customers with declining activity: spot the change before you lose them

Some customers still visit, but less often. This report compares your chosen period with the immediately preceding period of the same length, showing who has reduced their activity and by what percentage.

For example, a drop from eight activities to six is a 25% decline. You can set a minimum level of previous activity and the decline you want to detect.

At a dog daycare, noticing that a family is visiting less often is a good reason to ask whether their schedule has changed and offer an option that works better for them. The report shows you the change; the conversation helps you understand what the customer needs.

4. Reactivated customers: make the most of a second chance

Discover who has returned after a break, when they came back and what they have done since. Knowing they are back gives you a chance to thank them, ask about their experience and suggest a next step that helps maintain the relationship.

A return visit is a chance to strengthen the relationship.

These reports analyze recorded business activity: completed stays and services, consultations, purchases, course enrollments and completed sessions. Future bookings and appointments do not count as activity. Keep that distinction in mind when reviewing the results and check the customer record before reaching out.

The service may be over, but the opportunity to build loyalty is not

When a family collects their pet, finishes a training course or buys a product from your shop, the relationship can continue. A useful message shows that you care about their experience and makes it easier for them to choose you again.

That is why Gespet now offers seven follow-up reports to help you find those customers and send them a relevant message.

5. Follow up after a pet hotel stay

View completed stays and filter by check-out date and duration. For example, contact the owners of pets who stayed last week to ask how they have settled back in at home. Invite their feedback and remind them you are there for their next vacation.

You could also ask for a Google review or offer a discount on another stay next month. Choose the approach that suits your boarding business.

6. Follow up after pet daycare visits

Review completed daycare visits, their times and duration. Ask how the pet has been since going home and help the family plan a routine of visits that fits their everyday life.

7. Follow up after a grooming appointment

Find everyone who visited last week or customers who booked a particular grooming service during the past month.

Share tips to maintain the results at home, or send a reminder to repeat a treatment after 30 days, for example. Keep your communication relevant to the service each pet received.

8. Follow up with dog training clients

Review completed sessions or courses and filter by service or course. Ask how practice at home has been going over the past few weeks, then suggest a refresher session or further training suited to their progress.

9. Follow up after veterinary consultations

View consultations and filter by consultation type or service. For example, contact clients whose pets received emergency care last week to ask how they are doing, remind them about follow-up visits or offer a relevant service related to their previous consultation.

10. Follow up with pet shop customers

Review sales by product or category to offer advice on using a purchase or ask whether the customer is happy with it.

For regularly purchased items, you might contact someone who bought pet food 15 days ago or a flea collar two months ago. If they are ready to buy again, you could offer a promotion or discount. These timely conversations can open up new sales opportunities for your pet shop.

11. Follow up with families after a puppy sale

Review sales and the puppies placed with each family. Ask how their puppy is settling into their new home and help with questions during those first few days. You could also introduce a puppy socialization course, suitable puppy care products or other relevant support.

1. How can I win back customers who have stopped visiting my pet business?

Gespet Marketing helps you identify customers who have not returned to your dog grooming salon, pet hotel, daycare, veterinary clinic or pet shop. The Customers without activity report lets you choose how long it has been since their last visit, purchase or service, or review a specific period. You can then prepare targeted email campaigns to reconnect with inactive customers and encourage them to return.

2. How can I spot inactive customers or customers who are visiting my pet business less often?

Gespet Marketing includes reports for both inactive customers and those whose visits or purchases have become less frequent. Customers without activity identifies people with no recorded activity during your selected period. Customers with declining activity finds those who still use your services, but less often than in the previous period of the same length. Set the minimum decline you want to detect and plan retention campaigns before you lose touch.

3. How can I see which customers have returned to my grooming salon, pet hotel or other pet business?

The Reactivated customers report in Gespet Marketing identifies customers who have returned after a period of inactivity. See who came back, when they returned and their subsequent activity. This helps you review customer reactivation alongside your loyalty and marketing efforts. The report shows recorded returns, but does not automatically attribute a return to a particular campaign.

4. Can I follow up after a service and ask pet business customers for feedback?

Yes. Gespet Marketing includes follow-up reports for pet hotels, dog daycares, grooming salons, dog training centers, veterinary clinics, pet shops and breeders. Review completed services or recorded transactions and contact customers with personalized messages. For example, ask about their experience after a boarding stay, grooming appointment, veterinary service or purchase. This helps you understand customer satisfaction, improve service and build loyalty.

5. Can I send targeted email campaigns directly to my pet business customers?

Yes. Use Gespet Marketing reports to segment your customers and send personalized emails directly from the software. Filter the results, select who you want to contact and click Send email to write a message or use a template. You can prepare campaigns to win back inactive customers, reward regular customers or follow up after a service. Activity reports group results by customer; follow-up reports send one email for each selected transaction.
